The AJJs started the night off with their fusion of folk punk rockish music. Full of energy and political undertones. Singing about the various issues in the world today. They provided us with a serious message carried by a catchy beat intersected with light hearted banter and jokes.
After a short 30 minute break Murder by Death came on. Cross between rock, country and a little something all their own that I can't quite put my finger on. According to a Star Wars inspired scroll this is their 1932nd show. Which is why their set list consisted of a few songs from each of their 10 full length albums. They have with them a cello, and violin tying together with some still guitar and horn and keys. Their depressing happy songs and happy depressing songs filled Treefort Music Hall and the ears of their fans. Fitting music for the spooky time of year it is. Definitely going to add their dark sound to my Halloween Playlist. Happy Halloween everyone stay safe and I’ll catch you at the next show.
