A mild evening in mid April brought us the Knitting Factory in Boise for the Behemoth godless tour. A Red Bull for show fuel and some water for hydration and I prepared for a night of death metal. Walking into the venue I came to realize we had a very tight stage. With stacks back to back and drums on high risers there wasn't very much room for the first two bands.

Immolation hit the stage first. They had little room to move and their sound was running through mics on mic stands sitting in the barricade set next to the monitors on stage. With that said, this death metal band from Yonkers, NY crushed it.  What space they did have they used well and the sound was handled well and came through great.

Up next was Rotting Christ here all the way from Athens, Greece. When their set started then energy changed. This extreme metal band made use of every inch of stage they had and it wasn't long before they had the first circle pit of the night going. Getting the crowd amp with each song of their set the energy could be felt in every inch of the venue. They gave me Amon Amarth Vibes Lit by the colors of their flag made for a great visual production as simple as it may have been.

The 3rd set of the night was Deicide from Tampa, FL. This death metal band blended some thrash and speed metal attacking our ears with a hard hitting heavy sound. From the look of the pit there will be some visual memories left on the bodies of the die-hards . Lights dark, sounds heavy, this band left it all on the stage. The drummer sitting high on his throne brought a rapid beat. The guitars full of distortion kept up with it.  The interaction between crowd and band was limited compared to the first two. The stage space still was limited with their stacks and the drum riser which was more than enough for them and they made the most of it.

Next was the headliner Behemoth from Gdańsk, Poland. Let's just say metal makes the world go around, and I'm all about an international show. Behemoth did not disappoint, and absolutely blew my socks off. Loud, melodic darkened death metal and one of the best light shows I have seen. I don't know if I can listen to Behemoth now without the live show just wouldn't feel the same, I mean I still will but it will forever be missing a piece of the whole experience. Behemoth is for more than just a concert, it's an experience. Not light on the crowd interaction they kept hand raised high and the pit going hard enough to power a small city with the energy the fans put out.  The sound was spotless and loud as to be expected. I could go on for days about how impressed I was and still have more to say. Over all an unforgettable show they put on. It was immaculate.

I'll be keeping my eyes out for more shows from Rotting Christ and Behemoth. A big shout out to Immolation for giving a shout out to Ingrown a local Idaho band that also shreds. I hope these bands will be back sooner rather than later and when they are don't miss them it worth every bit to go.
