The Used

On October 5th, The Used paid a little visit to the The Revolution Concert House in Boise, ID. The show kicked off with an unexpected dance party from EDM/pop duo China Blue, who immediately got the crowd moving and helped set an upbeat tone for the rest of the evening. The duo mentioned that this was only their second show together as a group, but you wouldn't have known it from watching them perform. They interacted with the crowd with the confidence and energy of seasoned veterans, making for a fun and memorable start to the night.
Next up, was Modern Color, a band from the South Bay's local hardcore punk and metalcore scene. Their energetic performance kept the crowd engaged and helped transition the evening toward the main event. I didn't get the chance to listen any of their music prior to that night but, I'm excited to check out more of their music and see where they go from here.
The Used took the stage and kicked off their set with their hit “Pretty Handsome Awkward,” and from that moment on, the energy inside The Rev was incredible. Playing their hits like "The Bird and the Worm" and "The Taste of Ink." During the song "Paralyzed" they selected some fans to join them up on stage for a dance party. They even teased the crowd by playing a piece of a famous cover, "Under Pressure." They chose to play one of my top favorite songs instead, "A Box Full of Sharp Objects"(featuring a snippet outro of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit") at he end of the set.
Being a band for 26 years, the crowd was a mix of longtime fans who grew up listening to the band, who are now bring their own kids to the show and new fans, seeing them live for the first time. Seeing multiple generations of fans standing together in the same room made the night feel especially meaningful. The Used have created music that continues to connect with people years after they first discovered the band, while still attracting new fans along the way. During the show, The Used announced that they are writing new music, giving fans plenty to look forward to. It's exciting to see the band continuing to move forward, I cant wait to hear what comes next.
Overall, The Used's night in Boise was a great reminder of the lasting impact a band can have. They're still bringing people together, creating new fans, and giving longtime fans another reason to show up, sing along, and relive the music that has been part of their lives for years.
