On this wet March Wednesday evening Boise gathered at the Knitting Factory for Badflower. The numbers at first didn't look promising but the room filled in pretty well while the first supporting band performed. Olive Vox, out of DFW, Texas came out on stage to set the tone for the night.
Taking the stage first they brought no shortage of energy. You'd never know they had been living that van life for about a month had they not told us. They brought a grunge rock sound to the room and the fans loved it. With that grunge sound I feel there were some hints of Emo inspiration tossed in there. This alt rock band fronted by Parker James(Lead Vocals) put forth a great opening set. Coming up next is Point North and I have some high expectations for them.
Point North from Los Angeles,CA came on stage ready to melt faces and steal some voices. They have a sound I have heard many times before. I like to class it as Post Nu Metal. They come in with heavy riffs, clean vocals and a fair share of back tracks. They threw some screams into it to give it that heavier sound. I enjoyed their overall performance. High energy and lots of crowd engagement which is always a joy to see. I would be inclined to say they also left it all on the stage. leaving the fans primed for the headline act of the night Badflower.
Badflower came out on stage ready for the show. I had some concerns due to recent events. which were addressed. What Josh the lead singer has been going through is something everyone goes through. Going on stage every night is impressive. The show tonight was amazing. I missed them when they came through at the end of 2024. Their Emo meets grunge sounds filled the room. The crowd engagement was next level. It had its moments that it seemed like a short stand up bit. Lights with video boards were solid on que and didn’t miss a beat. There came a point where Josh left the stage and we were presented with an amazing instrumental bit heavy in blues and hard rock finished with an absolute banger of a drum solo. It was after this he went crowd surfing. Not before he ate a banana and the guitarist tossed one up to the second floor. They finished out the set with “Jester” and “Ghost” and moved into the encore. Although not on the set list they performed their hit “Detroit” as per a fan request. There was a lot of singing along tonight not to fall short for the encore.
I have to say on this rainy night in Boise, so many came together for Badflower. I never would have guessed there were so many devoted fans. But here we are. Way to show up in Boise. For the bands tonight, great job.
