A rainy night in downtown Boise, ID brought the metal crowd to Treefort Music Hall. In spite of the Mountain West Championship football game going on at Albertsons Stadium. The fans still showed up in good numbers.
Starting us out was a very energetic band If Not For Me. Hitting us with some of their older music and some new music as well. They had a good amount of return fans which is always great to see. They had a great set with strong stage presence and crowd engagement keeping us locked into the show. Definitely I would not sit on this one if you have the chance to see them.
Nevertel took the second spot of the night. They delivered the same level of energy as they did when opened for Sleep Theory earlier thus year. They really met and broke my expectations. demonstrating an impromptu ability to adapt when one of the mics wasnt working. Quickly acting and swapping the one mic between each other demonstrated an amazing professionalism and coolness in the face of that situation. Hats off to you for that. Another amazing set by these guys. Being only halfway through the evening im excited for the rest of the show at this point.
Rain City Drive was certainly a crowd favorite. For me their set was mellow. This didnt take away from the crowds energy one bit. They also delivered a solid set. The crowd engagement wasnt near that of the first two bands. It was still an upper echelon performance.
Now for Memphis May Fire to close out this night and one of the last rock shows in Boise for the year
Its hard to beat cryo and pyro, although this show didnt have any pyro there was plenty of cryo. This along with their light rig was kinda of a suprise. I honestly didnt know what to expect since a few days before this show they had their trailer flip while in route to show. To say the least I was very impressed, they were able to pull this together and keep the show going. This was above and beyond. There set killed it and hit harder then anything I've covered this week. There was plenty of crowd surfers mostly kids which is always great to see. To bring this level of performance in the face of adversity is truly top teir.
With that all said this was a wonder night. It certainly beat some football game down the street. I will most certainly be watching for these bands to come back through.
