On a sold out Tuesday night in Boise, Idaho. Nothing More from Texas graced the Knitting Factory stage with support from Kingdom Collapse out of Texas and local support from The Sky Burns Brighter. The anticipation in the room was palpable as fans flowed in and the room was quickly filled with folks of all ages.

Taking the stage first was the Sky Burns Brighter. It is always a delight to me when I get to enjoy a local band playing with larger acts like Nothing More. They had a pretty tight stage to play on with all the equipment that was on the stage. This didn’t stop them from bringing their A game for everyone to see and hear. It was a quick 30 minute set and then on to the next band.

Kingdom Collapse an independent band from Texas did not disappoint from the start of to the finish of their set. These guys charged out onto stage and I didnt know which way was up or where to direct my camera. I was impressed to say the least. They brought that Big Texas energy to little old Idaho and made sure to leave a mark. I can see why they have some favorites living in the upper levels of the Sirius XM charts. With this energy they easily earned a place in my spotify rotation and their cover of “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield easily my favorite variation of the song. I do feel like with all this energy they may have got ahead on time. Also, happy birthday to their bus driver. Nearing the end of their set I found myself thinking if this is half the energy Nothing More brings to the stage we are about to get our worlds rocked…I was not wrong.

After a bit of a change over, and a crowd sing along to the house music playing Creeds “One Last Breath”. The lights went down and we heard Nothing More’s intro track of “Country Roads” by John Denver. Interrupting it with a nice bass drop before rolling into their “Carnal” track. This got me excited about what was coming my way. Like I said before the energy doubled from the prior set which I thought was near impossible and I was there for it. Their first three songs were hard not to sing to while I took photos, so I sang quietly. Looking back at that crowd they were next level. At some previous shows I was disappointed with them. That night I was delighted in them, smiles and energy and noise, so much amazing positive noise. Later in the set I was reminded of a Godsmack show I attended October of last year and was given a delightful duel of percussion between lead vocals Jonny Hawkins and drummer Ben Anderson. The drums would come into play again at the end of the show. First was the wave of crowd surfers late in their set keeping security on their toes. With a nice pit going in the middle of the crowd this show was quickly becoming one of my favorites of the year to date. At the end of the set the guitarists grabbed the two toms that had been sitting on racks stage right and stage left. They brought them center stage, fans raised their hands to hold them tight and Jonny took up his old role of the bands drummer to close out the night. It was at this point this show took its place in the top three shows for me of this year, so far. Easily one of the best shows I have been to. Also, to close this one out I have a little P.S.A. people please don’t throw things at that photographers in the barrier, even if its an empty cup.
