Have you ever been lucky enough to see a small band and think “oh, these kids are going somewhere?” That’s not Silversun Pickups; they’ve been a band longer than some of the members of these up-and-comer bands have been alive. I am, however, referring to their opener—Rocket. Much like last year’s Silversun Pickups show with Hello Mary [who have been back to Boise twice since] opening, fingers crossed that Boise will be seeing more Rocket over the next few years. But let’s pivot to the adult table and talk about Silversun Pickups.
Now, for the sake of transparency, your writer is a smidge biased. I’ve seen SSPU 4 times in the last decade, I have way too many t-shirts, and I’ve spent almost 2 decades of my life listening to this band. But believe me when I say that seeing them live is a treat. Especially at their show on May 2nd here at our very own Treefort Music Hall. Do you like heavy guitars? Spectacular lightshows? Hearing someone next to you go “I love this song!” every third song? Regardless of what floats your goats, you’ll find it at a Silversun Pickups show. Every time they return to Boise is a treat for the Treasure Valley music scene, so fingers crossed they keep bringing us something sweet every time.
