So, let's talk about Steel Panther and the Feel the Steel Tour. This was the first time I have seen them live and I could talk about the show for days. I don't have that much time and neither do you. I will keep it brief, and far from poignant. First off we will introduce you to the opener.

Knitting Factory in Boise, ID filled up pretty quickly and many fans arrived to delight in the loud high energy and heavy sound of Moon Fever from Seattle, WA. These gents were an absolute match to get the crowd hyped up for the headline. Their intense stage presence kept your eyes fixed on the stage. All throughout their set the crowd engagement was top notch. Lead vocalist Triston Bracht frequently interacted with fans along the barrier even getting on the barrier at one point. This set left me wanting more and I will be keeping an eye out for their next visit to the Treasure Valley. The performance was not to be missed and was a fantastic warm up for what was to come next.

The house music came on and the changeover began giving fans time to rush to the bar for more drinks and a quick bathroom break. The light got low with a deep magenta wash as Stix Zadinia entered from stage right followed by Micheal Starr, Satchel, and Spyder. Cue the lights and instantly I was thrown back in time to my idea of an 80’s heavy metal show… There was something different though. I found myself chuckling and eventually just laughing when the lyrics graced my ears. Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll and everything that comes with it. I have listened to their music on my normal streaming service often, but the music hits differently when it's a live performance.

That's just what this is, a performance and honestly a great one at that. At first glance of the set list you would think this is going to be a quick show. I did at first, it's only twelve songs and an encore. I feel like it could be more. However, in between songs is just as much of the performance as the music itself. The banter between the band members and crowd was almost enough to make me ugly laugh but I managed to contain it somehow. The band even brought some ladies on stage for a few songs. Like “Asian Hooker”, there was an impromptu song for a lady well ladies in this case, and then even more entered the stage to dance for “17 Women in a Row” really it was closer to twenty or more on the stage. Closing the night out was “Death to All but Metal” and like the entirety of the show the crowd was singing as loudly as Micheal Starr was. It was at this point though I thought I was going to witness something I have not seen at a show before. Maybe it was the ear plugs I had in, but the crowd seemed awfully quiet when the last song ended and I truly thought it wasn't going to be enough to get them back out for an encore. To my relief they came back out to give us the listening and viewing pleasure of “Glory Hole” and then some hat trick antics involving mic stands.

Overall, my experience at my first Steel Panther show will be one I will remember for quite awhile. I probably won't shut up about it and will push others to attend the next show they have in Boise. You have to go at least once. I do recommend that you don't take it seriously. Don’t expect it to be socially correct, you will be disappointed. Also, don't get offended. They take it over the top in what has to be one of the best rock and roll lifestyle parodies there is. Come for a good laugh and great entertainment and you should leave elated that you did.
